There may be a delay – but more A77 details emerge

It seems that the A77 (and the A55 replacement, which it seems is called the A65) may not be announced until August, rather than July as was expected, but that they will still ship from September-October 2011.

Some extra bits of spec for the A77:

  • Greater than 10 frames/second
  • 11 cross AF points
  • USB 3.0
  • Swivel-screen LCD

And it is said that the 16-50 f2.8 kit lens will cost a little more than the Zeiss 16-80, which sells for 750USD at reputable camera stores. The Canon EFS 17-55mm f2.8 sells for 1100USD and I would guess Sony would want to match or better that price. So that leaves us most likely at 900-1000 dollars for the lens? The Canon 7D sells for 1900USD with lens so perhaps Sony will match that or even shade it a bit?

  1. Sony A77 says:

If sony A65 A77 could include HD video format (1080p and 720p) in progressive mode at 60p (60fps not interlaced but progressive) it could be a real concurrent of the CANON 550D, 600D, 60D for video slowmotion fan.
